Christmas 2013

This was a special Christmas season celebrating with an infant. We were able to see Debbie, Todd, and Anna over my birthday weekend.

We had a wonderful Christmas with them and they even experienced our first big snow of the season!

(I swear we didn't make them shovel...they were so excited to do it!)

It kept snowing all weekend and I had snow on my birthday. Corey surprised me with a party in Illinois where family and friends were waiting. I was so happy to be with people I love!
(Jeremy, Sarah, and Sienna)

We were sad to see MoMo, Anna, and Todd leave. It was now on to the next adventures of Corey's birthday and Christmas (part II).

Corey's birthday is on Christmas Eve and I try to separate the two but sometimes festivities inner twine. We were able to attend our church's service earlier in the day. I took Corey out on the town (grocery stores) where he picked his dinner ingredients; thanks to the grandparents watching Jax.
(I cheated and bought the cheesecake :)

It was my first time being mom on a Christmas Eve and it was surreal. I had my mom sleeping away while I made sure the goodies were laid out properly for Santa and the next morning.

We awoke to a slight amount of snow on the ground and started making foods for our feast. Turned out we made our own version of Griswold's Family Christmas.

Something had spilled in the oven and was burning as we cooked our dishes. It made the whole house stink and the fire alarms went off with the growing smoke.

At one point, I opened the front door to let out the smell and above the screeching detectors I yelled for the neighborhood to hear, "Merry Christmas!"
But we pulled off a big brunch and started opening gifts.
(A great addition to his books from Aunt Di and Uncle Jim!)

We took our time and enjoyed eachother.  Remembering that Jesus was once the size of Jaxson.

As I cherish the times we have with him at this age and years to come, we thank The Lord that he sent his son for us and became the Living Word, Emmanuel.

I pray all of you had a wonderful Christmas season.  Next year, I'll look forward to chasing a toddler around :)

(We found we have a back-scooter who prefers to be without clothes.)

Love to all!
