A Fair Day

Lemon-shake up, elephant ear, tenderloin sandwich the size of our head, foot-long corn dog, community church service, and carny games that steal your money define this past Sunday morning. Every summer I look forward to Fairs and Carnivals where I can devour an elephant ear and lemon-shake up. As long as I can fill my tummy with those two items at least once a year, I'm content.

Corey and I are lucky enough to attend a church that thinks outside the proverbial box. It deals deeply in worldly missions as well as creating new and exciting ways to reach people with God's message locally. Today, they partnered with our county's 4-H Fair to hold a church service before the Fair opened.

Worshipping with thousands of other believers is always an amazing experience but when you do it outside of a traditional setting, it seems to hit you a little more. Last year temps were over 100 and this year, in contrast, a cool 75 with intermittent rain.

We debated whether I should make the trek since there would be a lot of walking but luckily one advantage of having another human growing inside of you are free rides on golf carts. Corey can't get over the perks I've received just because I'm pregnant. I enjoy them, besides also needing them.

As we passed all the rides and venues we couldn't help but talk about this time next year and how our excursions to such events as these will be completely different. We envisioned ourselves standing in line for a children's ride or a certain prize. Looking ahead to the future we can't know everything that will happen but know that it will be an adventure for sure.
