Singing the no power blues

24 hours ago we were hit by a massive storm with 70 mph winds and hurricane rain (as I imagine it would be in Indiana, that is). In the craziness of getting the patio furniture moved inside and the dogs settled down, we couldn't find any flashlights and only two candles. It was an early night and early morning for me at least due to little sleep.

Having no air conditioning, no noise in the house, and opening the fridge as little as possible has sure taken a toll on my psyche.

I've taken three joyrides with Ellie to charge my phone and get some cool air on my swelling pregnant body. I barely waddled half way down the street to get some exercise and made myself swiffer the floors because my nesting instincts were driving me crazy.

I did treat myself to a movie where I could stop sweating for 2 hours while crunching on my favorite thing during this pregnancy; ice!

Henry enjoyed his first day at his new daycare and Ellie and I have had girl time. Currently, we are chilling, as much as we can, in the car parked in our driveway. With the heat index almost to 90 today and with little wind, it's not an ideal day for no air conditioning.

However, I can't help but be reminded and humbled at how much I am blessed on a daily basis. People all over the world and even here in the US live like this daily and for me to complain pulls on my heart strings. We are safe, have water stocked, and can retreat to restaurants, vehicles, and still have running water.

I've always believed God has a sense of humor and right now he's smiling down on me, sending down a slight breeze, and allowing me the chance to just settle down for a while.
Thank you Lord for the reminders you send and blessings I forget about.

Ellie on her joyride today (I was stopped, don't worry)
