Henry Jethro Moles

Most people laugh when we tell them that Henry, our 10 month old puppy, attends doggie daycare. We laugh at ourselves too until we are reminded by the torn up books or constant "crunch, crunch, crunch" of empty water bottles. Henry, by all means, is an excellent dog and has been pretty easy to train. He has a few quirks, but don't we all? :)

This is Henry at 8 weeks, the day we brought him home. (2 weeks before we knew I was pregnant!)

This is Henry 1 week ago. He's grown just a tad :)

Henry Jethro (we gave him the middle name of Jethro for a little southern flare) is a like our middle child. He is very determined to be the center of attention and when he wants something, he definitely lets us know. This morning, as I'm writing this he is currently barking at a couch because there is probably his favorite ball underneath it. Of course there are 10 other toys sitting around me that he could chew on but nooooo, he wants THAT ball at 7:30 a.m.

Other traits of Henry:
  • loves to cuddle
  • is scared of car rides
  • antagonizes Ellie by taking off her collar and hiding it
  • perks up when he hears children's voices (we got him from a home that had two small kids)
  • will be intrigued by certain sounds on the TV and watch the screen for minutes on end like he knows what is happening
  • chases, catches, and eats moths/butterflies/ and sometimes bees (I have a huge supply of Benadryl)
  • thinks he can catch birds (his parents are hunting dogs...so it could happen)
  • enjoys fruits and veggies as treats (one time he ate a whole banana off the counter, let's just say we had to give him a lot of fiber for a few days)
  • likes to lick Corey's ears when he first comes home from work (either Corey needs to clean better or it's Henry's love language)
  • does not discriminate who he loves
Our biggest hope and prayer is that Henry, and Ellie, will get along well with Jaxson. We are letting them sniff around the nursery but also teaching boundaries. I play youtube clips of babies crying and laughing to get them used to the sounds. Henry licks the screen while Ellie finds a quieter retreat :)

We can definitely say that Henry is one of a kind. Thankfully, he has learned how to be calm and take naps from Ellie. I'm hoping they can both teach Jax how to do the same ;-)
